Described by Microsoft as a 'multi-gigawatt multi-decade ecosystem.' The 400 MW initial-target figure that appeared in the prior record was NOT found in either cited source and has been removed pending a citable source (neither the Microsoft newsroom announcement nor Cowboy State Daily mentions a specific MW figure). Separate from existing Cheyenne campus (since 2012) and the HR Ranch Road construction underway 2025-2026. Coordinates approximate for Bison Business Park / SE Cheyenne area.

Microsoft announced intent to purchase 3,200 acres: 200 acres at Bison Business Park on Wapiti Trail + 3,000 acres in Southeast Cheyenne, tripling Wyoming footprint

Microsoft closed on its ~3,460-acre land purchase (June 26, 2026) and the Cheyenne City Council approved annexation and zoning for the expansion parcel on a 6-3 vote (July 13-14, 2026), clearing the land-use path for the campus; construction has not been reported as begun on this parcel yet. Note: a local referendum petition against the annexation was launched July 20, 2026, so this approval could still be contested.
