What the source record says
Microsoft bought ~295 acres from Xcel Energy near the Sherco coal plant in Becker for ~$17.7M (closed 2024-02-12) 'with the intent' to build a data center. As of Oct 2025 no formal plans had been submitted to the city. Distinct site/operator from the already-tracked, suspended Amazon Becker project (~348 acres, same area; locally nicknamed 'Core Ridge') — not a duplicate.
Any MW value is reproduced as source-reported context. Its measurement boundary is not established consistently enough for comparison. Unknown is not zero.
