What the source record says
Google's first Minnesota campus, Pine Island (Goodhue County), powered by Xcel Energy; ~250,000 sq ft initial building for AI applications. Electric Service Agreement pending MPUC approval as of Feb 2026 → proposed. The associated 1,900 MW (1,400 MW wind + 200 MW solar + 300 MW storage) is a new clean-energy build-out, NOT the data center's IT load — DC capacity not disclosed (omitted). Faces a local legal challenge. Coordinates are the Pine Island area centroid.
Any MW value is reproduced as source-reported context. Its measurement boundary is not established consistently enough for comparison. Unknown is not zero.
Status history supplied by the source
- 2026-02 · reported proposed
Xcel Energy signed an agreement to power a new Google data center in Pine Island, MN; Electric Service Agreement pending MPUC approval
- 2026-09-18 · reported permitted
The City of Pine Island records that on 2026-01-20 it granted final approvals — rezoning, annexation, final plat, final development plan and conditional use permit — and on 2026-02-04 approved a ~$36.5 million tax abatement. The city states "The developer is now pursuing the required permits through various state agencies", and its own milestone list records no construction start, so the record moves from proposed to permitted rather than under_construction.
